Car!
The word is in: I'm getting a car! Mom & dad went and checked out the EGT yesterday and gave it their seal of approval. They gave the seller some money to take the for sale sign off of it until mom has the money. Should be getting the car on or about the 17th, can't wait!

Extra extra!
Last night was the geo curling night. It was a good time, lots of stumbling on the ice, one good shot by myself. The best part was being skip and getting to yell "HARD! HURRY HARD! SWEEP!" etc. Although SOME people didn't come for whatever reason. You know who you are.
Today, soon, I head off to work. 12-8, woohoo. Come to find out that the new manager is not who we wanted/expected. But this new guy may not be staying long, as rumour has it.
In other news, mom and dad are going to check out the Escort GT in Moncton today. Dad will give his yay or nay and mom will take some pictures. They're also going to get the VIN so I can run it through Carfax to make sure its clean. Hopefully everything goes good and this time next month I'll have a car!
Penultimately, the preliminary exam schedule is up. I have two exams, and they're 9 days apart. Score! Although, true to form last year, one exam is the day after my dad's birthday. Hopefully I'll be able to go home on his birthday, though. Missed it last year due to an exam.
And finally, there is a dog in the house. Helen is dog-sitting again, I'm not sure for how long. Should be an interesting time.
There's nothing quite like...
...the sound of a wood column splintering in a 1946 vintage 200000lb testing machine under your control. Hooray for engineering!
Chronicles of a Subway II
So, Mr Subway is leaving. The higher-ups in the Fredericton Subway world are shuffling some of the managers around, and Mr Subway is moving to another store. No idea yet who is going to be our new boss, but there is one manager that we would love to come here and who really wants to come here. So we'll see if she comes or not.
Also, Happy/Sad is leaving as well. She's moving to Calgary with her boyfriend. So for original staff when I started it'll be 3 of us. There are 4 new staff starting in the next couple of weeks. Should be interesting.
Chronicles of a Subway
Some of you know that I've been working at a Subway for a couple of months now. I thought maybe it was time to talk a bit about the staff, as sometimes interesting things happen.
When I first started working, the staff consisted of:
*Mr Subway (the manager; he's married to his job [much to his wife's chagrin, I'm sure])
*Happy/Sad (she looks perpetually sad but is actually rather happy all the time)
*Beauty Queen (constantly touching up her makeup)
*Bone (a really cool guy, he's taking EE at UNB)
*Whine (really nice, but she has a bit of a whine to her voice)
*G-dawg (an okay guy, he was the weekday closer)
*A-dawg (a HS kid, started working there when I did)
Since I started working, A-dawg was embroiled in a paycheque fiasco and ended up leaving. Whine left because she did really poorly in school last semester and hopes to do better this semester if she's not working. G-dawg just up and wigged out one night and kept dicking Mr Subway around saying he was going to come back to work when he had no intention to do so. This situation was awkward for me cause G-dawg seems to have taken me on as a friend and is always calling to chat. Mr Subway now has to open and close the store on a weekly basis. I feel real bad for Mr Subway cause he's a really nice guy and I get along great with him. Only thing is he's a bit obsessive-compulsive and when I close I can rarely get the place clean enough for his liking.
Last night I worked 6-11, with BQ and Happy/Sad leaving at 8 when Mr Subway came in. It wasn't so bad working with the manager. He did his own thing getting ready for the evening/morning and I served most of the customers. There was one incident when Mr Subway said something under his breath to me regarding a few customers we had at that moment and the customer got a little upset about it "What did you say?" "Nothing" which I found rather amusing because if the customer wanted to make a stink about it to the manager, well...
When Mr Subway came in he gave us our paycheques. G-dawg had brought in his store key Wednesday and was expecting to come in Friday and get his cheque. Mr Subway is quite pissed off with G-dawg and looked into his rights. He is legally allowed to wait 2 weeks after G-dawg's last day to give him his cheque. Which is exactly what Mr Subway is going to do. Only he's going to dick G-dawg around. Justice, I think. I'll get calls from G-dawg complaining about it, but I'll be laughing on the inside. Mr Subway: 1 G-dawg: 0
But I'm beginning to worry a bit as Mr Subway informed us that TPTB in the Fton Subway franchise are going to to a manager shuffle. We have no idea who our manager will be after all is said and done. Frankly, it doesn't really matter to me as I hardly ever see Mr Subway anyways as when I work its usually the evening and on the weekend. But with new staff coming in I may request not to close. Ever. Bone has said that he only wants to close on the weekend and that's it, which is fine for me. And really, as long as I get the time off I've asked for (mainly March Break) I'm happy.

Tuition
I still need to go pay. Note to self: GO PAY TUITION TOMORROW.
In other news, Coleman seems to be getting his wish: tuition differential for engineers. Proposed differential is $600 for 06/07, $800 for 07/08 and $1000 for 08/09, to stay there indefinately. Joint programs such as forestry eng, software eng and geo eng only have to pay 50% of this differential, hooray! But that's still $300 and then $400 more on my tuition. The differential hasn't been implemented yet, but its most likely going to happen. Maybe, with the way the uni bureaucracy goes, it won't be implemented until 08/09, after I graduate...
Brrr
Sometimes I wonder if my aunt doesn't like me. Its -15° outside, I'm still in bed sleeping, and she leaves and turns the heat off. WTF?!
Waffles
Well, my first attempt at making waffles has met with mixed results. I didn't blow anything up, or burn anything. But the end result was more like little square pancakes than actual waffles. I think next time I shall add vegetable oil to the batter as the box suggests. But the main point is that I have a waffle iron and can make waffles! And that's all that really matters.

My baby shot me down
So I finally got my last mark back, and it was a killer. I got a D in CE2703. Not a C, which is a pass for credit, not an F that is a complete fail, but a D, which is a pass with no credit. A slap in the face as it were. So now I find myself having to retake CE2703. But, I can't fit it into my schedule anymore as it'll conflict. So I managed to get myself into ChE2703, which is the same course (I hope). But, the prof for CE3713 is "asking" me to drop the class because I got a D in CE2703 (the prereq for CE3713). If I drop it things will get really messed up. I plead my case with him and am awaiting a reply.
In other news, my dad has a job, and he's leaving tomorrow. He may be back in a couple of weeks for a few days, or we may not see him again until March. I certainly hope its the former.
Random
Shopper's Drug Mart sells digital cameras and memory cards. How weird is that? Canadian Tire I can kinda see, but Shopper's? Totally unexpected.
Working New Year's Eve sucks. There were only two restaurants open in the city: my Subway and one Subway downtown. I was the only one working from 12-3; the other store had 3 people. Grr.
To the asshats wanting food after 3: when you pull up to a store, and all the lights are off,
especially the 'Open' sign, that's a pretty good indication that the store is closed.
Dad getting a job and going away for 2 weeks at a time is going to make it difficult to get my truck on the road. Ho hum.
