So I was aimlessly surfing the internet and I popped over the the Alias webpage. I discovered that the season premiere aired tonight. Hooray! I was pumped. Finally a resolution to the cliffhanger at the end of last season! I get all excited and then..........

Its been a while
Well I suppose I should post an update. I finally have internet here at Helen's. It only took them 15 days but I have internet. They didn't even know that I had it as I got a call from Aliant on Saturday to arrange an appointment for someone to come check it out. Weird.
I might have a job at The Source, I'm not sure. I will get back to y'all when I find out...
Friday was the first installment of Fluids for the fall 2005 term. There was a pretty good turnout and I was toasted by 5 pm. Woo! On Saturday was the Geology end-of-summer BBQ at Dr Joe's place. Once again a large turnout, much bigger than last year. We undergrads took over Joe's basement den-room-thingy. I biked home from the BBQ and it took about an hour. And I was a little sore when I got back, telling me that I'm definately not used to hardcore biking.

Family fun
Saturday was a lazy day comprised of me doing...nothing. Pretty much. Watched TV. Started reading
Drive to the East. Well, Saturday night I drew a new ship for the Elani (well, new design for an old ship) that won't get put on the webpage until Tuesday cause Aliant has decided, in all their wisdom, that I don't get a new modem until then.
Sunday was a family day. For some reason Colleen and the twins were at the house. Something to do with Colleen going to some festival stuff, I dunno. Anyhoo, Richard came over and looked after his kids for a bit while Colleen was out. When she came back things were civil enough, but then all of a sudden it exploded and their was yelling and swearing and I tried to ignore it. None of my concern! After that little fiasco mom & dad came up with Thomas and we had a little birthday party for him & I. I got some new sneakers (that don't fit and need to be returned), plus they brought up my mail which was full of goodies such as a Ranger model, Ford factory key blanks so I can get keys made for my truck, and a 2005 member TRS decal for my truck's rear window.
Update on the truck, while I'm at it. It now has brakes to all four wheels. Bodywork on the left side of the truck is almost complete. The little holes on the cab roof are patched. Two of the rims have been cleaned up and painted. Dad expects to have the bodywork all done by the end of this week, hooray! The bad thing however is that dad found the cause of the leak in the rear end. We thought the gasket was going but turns out the differential cover has some holes rotted in it. Hopefully the parts truck has the same gears and thus the same cover and that its in good shape. Otherwise I'm going to need to find a cover somewhere...
And finally today was the first class of structural geology. Seems like it might be a good time. Finally a course that's actually related to my career path! And the prof is a little sketchy. Most likely a former stoner.
Gifts
Today after class I went up to the mall to pound the pavement. I only made it to The Source as I stopped at HMV and bought a gift for Thomas and a gift for me, then I went to Chapters and wasted some more time there. I need to go to the mall again tomorrow as I have an interview at The Source at 10:30, so I'll hit the other spots in the mall that are hiring then.
Still no internet at Helen's. Still no fucking phone service, either. I have a theory that they've activated the high-speed dealy on their end but because we don't have the filters for the phones yet, its not working right. We'll have to see what today brings. Hopefully a modem and filters. Either way, I'm going to be watching my brand new Firefly DVDs tonight. Woo!
Happy birthday to me!
Hooray! Another year older. Don't feel any different. I would have updated sooner, but Blogger wasn't behaving earlier....
Another fluids class done. Today was the first installment of fun fluids facts! I'm goign to be hard-pressed to come up with something interesting when my time comes. Also today was the first seds lab, which was rather boring. After that was glacial geology! It was a rather enjoyable time. I think its going to be my favourite class this term.
One, two, three, four, five, SIX!!!!!!
Hooray for obscure quotes. If you know what movie the title is from, you get a cookie.
So I now sit here in the Geo computer lab where I will be for 4 hours probably today because UNB's mass-mailing system sucks. Supposed to have a class at 0930 but the prof is away doing field school until next week. Christine says she sent an email, but I never got it. So now I get to sit here until fluids at 1330. Oh well. I'll catch up on internet stuff until then. Lousy Aliant not letting me keep the modem....
Anyhoo. Saturday was a lazy day for the most part. Went to see a movie with Susan & Sarah and then came back home. Bunch of engineers were having a party on their lawn on Windsor. I want to have a party with a couch on the lawn someday.
Sunday was also a lazy day. Although I got some laundry done. I need to get groceries soon...
Back to school
I'm heading back to Fredericton for the school year tomorrow. I have to go to the Aliant store in Regent Mall tomorrow to arrange for internet hookup, so it'll probably be a few days before I'm back online.
I leave my truck with all the major work done. The front brakes crapped out on me while I was practicing in the driveway. I bought new brakelines and some fluid, but dad'll have to do that without me. There's a bit of bodywork that needs to be done but dad can do that easily enough. Hopefully I'll have the truck with me in Fredericton sooner than later.

Today was a trip to Fredericton. Got to the Financial Services office at 9:10, 20 minutes before they opened, and I was second in line. By 9:30 there was a good sized line behind me; I was glad I got there early. Paid my tuition for this term and then went and bought the textbooks for fluid mechanics, glacial geology and igneous & metamorphic petrology. While in Fredericton I went to the two Ford dealerships there looking to get a Ford key made for my truck's door locks, as the only key I have is some generic thinger. Both dealerships told me that the key was too old and they didn't have those blanks. I'm going to try the dealers in Saint John to see if I have any better luck. If they don't have them then maybe I'll try eBay. If I have no luck there, well I guess I'll have to go with a generic key.
And in the vein of old vehicles, people may wonder why I'm putting all this time and money into a truck that's 17 years old. Well, first off, I want a small truck to drive. I'm a diehard Ford guy and I hope to own Fords for as much of my life as possible. So, that leaves me with a Ranger. Unless I want to go older (and smaller) and get a Courier, but that would be too much trouble than its worth. So, back to Rangers. To me, the best looking Rangers are from 83-88. And out of that range, 88 is pretty much the best year as its the last year for that body style so it has the "newest" mechanical bits and is usually in the best shape (except for my particular truck, in which case the 83 I got for parts is in a bit better shape). Also, I get the satisfaction out of knowing that once I get the truck finished and on the road, a good chunk of the work done on was done by me. Also, I'll have the best looking 88 Ranger in town when I'm done, by gar!
