Car shows and movies and barbecues, oh my!
Today a block of Main Street was closed off for a sidewalk party that included a car show. I went and checked it out and took a bunch of pictures. There were some really nice cars there, including a rare 1970 Corvette LT-1 (only one left in the maritimes). The owner took a picture of me sitting behind the wheel! I filled up 2 disposible cameras and I didn't even get a picture of all the cars!We went to a matinee of The Wedding Crashers. It was a pretty funny movie, your typical putting-on-an-act-falling-in-love-getting-found-out-get-the-girl-anyways kinda movie. It even had Christopher Walken! But unfortunately there were no classic Walken moments. I would reccommend a viewing, but if you only see a couple movies a year don't bother. There are plenty other more worthy movies out (Batman Begins! Fantastic Four! etc).
Tonight we had a barbecue and somehow I got drafted to be the cook. I think I've cooked on a barbecue maybe twice before. But whatever.
On the topic of cooking, I have a few things to say. I enjoy cooking. I enjoy preparing food in general, really. I like baking things and cooking meals for other people and what not. However, if I'm just cooking for myself I don't really like to put that much effort into it. Most of the time when I'm preparing myself something I'm hungry when I start and therefore want to get the food cooked quickly and eat it, thus I tend to cook things like sidekicks and KD and pizza pops and what not, which doesn't help reduce the size of the keg, y'know what I mean? Spending an hour preparing a meal in which you're the only one eating it doesn't exactly seem to be the best in time management to me. However, if I could find some dishes to make that are quick and better for me than the usual, I'd go for it. I might look into buying lots of canned potatoes....
And finally, I have another rant about a roomie. Roomie B is really starting to bug me. She still doesn't turn the shower off when she's done. She's still stinking up the kitchen with her cigarette butts. She gets me to turn the fan on over the stove extra high when I'm cooking sausage rounds because she doesn't like the smell. Excuse me but she cooks things that smell so bad I can't leave my room without gagging a bit. Also, she seems to be under the impression that my computer is free for her to use whenever she feels like it. Yes, I have stated that her and roomie A can use my computer. But if I'm in the apartment, ask me. I'll be sitting on the couch and she'll waltz in without asking, use my computer, sign me out of Messenger, move the window around, etc. I enjoy my privacy and my space and I like things to be arranged a certain way on my computer. When people just move things around and invade my space without asking it bugs me. I never go into her room for anything but if I did I would certainly ask. Roomie A at least still has the decency to ask me to use my computer and say "thank you" when she's done. It doesn't take a lot of effort! I've lost count how many times this week I've walked into my room to find her sitting at my computer. Grrr...
And as a final final note, I've been contracted to clean out the 3 fleet vehicles the office has. Score extra hours!
